Christopher Nolan movies at Bio Oko

Several of the director's films are playing ahead of the release of Dunkirk

Seven of British director Christopher Nolan's nine feature films will be presented at Prague's Bio Oko from July 6 to 12. The retrospective comes just before his next movie, Dunkirk, hits theaters July 20.

The director, screenwriter and producer often works with his brother Jonathan, who has co-written most of his movies and stands behind the 2016 reboot of Westworld, the futuristic thriller series from 1973.

The festival starts with psychological neo-noir thriller Memento which earned Nolan a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. Short term memory loss is used as a basis for a story of a strange killer seeking revenge. But he must leave himself notes about his progress.

The festival continues with a mystery thriller called The Prestige, starring Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale. Rival stage magicians find themselves in a dangerous competition.

A science-fiction adventure that blends reality with the world dreams, Inception, stars Leonardo DiCaprio. The twisty plot has a matching complex visual style.

Interstellar is set in a dystopian future where astronauts look for a new home for humanity. Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain star.

The last three days are given to The Dark Knight trilogy. The series revived Batman and made Christopher Nolan the sixth-highest paid director in the world. In 2005's Batman Begins, Nolan delivered a comic book movie for adults. Christian Bale and Michael Caine star, with Liam Neeson as Ra's al Ghul and Cillian Murphy as Scarecrow.

The second movie The Dark Knight brought a highly praised portrayal of Batman’s nemesis, the Joker, played by Heath Ledger. The actor earned many awards, including an Oscar, a Golden Globe and BAFTA. Unfortunately they came posthumously. The Dark Knight ranks as one of the most watched movies in history with ratings 94 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The third movie The Dark Knight Rises brought out other enemies from Batman graphic novels such as Bane, played by Tom Hardy, and Catwoman, played by Anne Hathaway.
