The Finest Hours

The Coast Guard makes a daring rescue attempt off the coast of Cape Cod after a pair of oil tankers are destroyed during a blizzard in 1952.

The Finest Hours is a 2016 American adventure disaster film directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Eric Johnson, Scott Silver, and Paul Tamasy, based on The Finest Hours: The True Story of the U.S. Coast Guard's Most Daring Sea Rescue by Michael J. Tougias and Casey Sherman, which chronicled the true story of the Pendleton rescue mission attempt in 1952 by Coast Guard ships, after two oil tankers were split apart by a nor'easter storm.
