Lehká Hlava - Clear Head
A place where you won't meet meat - and you won't mind
You might be feeling lightheaded after you've savored the food at this relatively new vegetarian restaurant.
Near Charles Bridge, on one of the shortest streets in Prague, it's called Lehká hlava - literally "Light Head" - although the official English translation is Clear Head.
I should point out that I'm not a vegetarian, but this restaurant will keep everybody happy.
The interior is amazing, and you'd feel comfortable enjoying an intimate dinner here. In one room you can sit beneath a ceiling decorated with a night-sky design, complete with glittering stars. Or, in warmer weather, you can sit outside, in a small courtyard surrounded by bamboo.
There's no separate kitchen - only a small bar, with a simple work surface for the chef - so you can watch him prepare your food. And he prepares it very well.
The menu features something for everyone: pastas, salads, couscous, bulgur, quesadillas, and vegetables, as well as desserts.
I recommend the delicious Salad with goat cheese and walnuts, Tempeh sauté with bulgur risotto, and, as dessert, a special carrot cake with a chocolate-and-ginger topping.
The menu also features, along with wine and beer, a wide range of non-alcoholic beverages, including special teas, coconut milk, soy milk, and fresh juices.
You can enjoy this healthy food in a healthy environment - the restaurant is non-smoking throughout - and the prices are more than reasonable, with a main course costing around 90 CZK.
The service is friendly too, so if you're unfamiliar with ingredients like bulgur, tempeh, and tofu, the wait staff is happy to answer your questions, adding to your gastronomic knowledge.
Clear Head is the place where you won't meet meat - and you won't mind!
