AsianFest 2018 Prague postponed

The large culture and food festival will be held in May 2019

One of the big summer food festivals has been postponed. The second edition of AsianFest was supposed to take place July 27–29, but will now take place May 3–5, 2019.

“Given that AsianFest 2018 is one of the most demanding festivals in the Czech Republic, there have been unexpected complications that led to a change in the date. Tickets purchased for the original date automatically remains valid for a new date,” the organizers said in a statement.

The location of the festival remains the same, at Branická louka in Prague 4.

Organizers did not give yet further information on what exactly the complications were that led to the change in date.

People who purchased tickets in advance who don't want to come to the new date can get a full refund. “We would like to ask all customers who bought tickets to AsianFest 2018 through the vendors GoOut, Ticketstream or TicketPro to directly contact those vendors regarding refunds. Customers who bought tickets through our official store should contact us directly at info@asianfest2018.cz and we will contact you in a few days. Thank you for understanding,” the organizers said.

Ticketstream on Facebook said that details on refunds would be available soon.

The festival focuses on countries such as China, Vietnam, Thailand, India, Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Sri Lanka.

The festival was supposed to have not only food from 120 restaurants but cultural performances by 350 Asian artists on five different stages and miniatures of famous Asian monuments built on an area of 30,000 square meters.

These monuments included the Buddha statue of Phuket Island, a 20-meter replica of the Beijing Imperial Palace, Shanghai's Old Chinese Quarter full of shops and Thailand's Ko Pha-ngan beach.

Pop up hotels in the festival area were also planned, including three-star tent accommodations.

How much of this will be included in the festival when it takes place in May 2019 is not currently clear.

More information when it becomes available will be at www.facebook.com/asianfest2018.
